Green vending machines
In Germany Regiomat machines currently sell fresh milk, eggs, butter, cheese, potatoes and sausage from local farmers in thirteen German towns and communities. They can be placed outdoors 365 days a year as long as they're under a roof (some have even been placed alongside hiking trails in Switzerland), effectively giving locals a 24-hour farmers' market and farmers a lot more free time. By cutting out the middleman, this system also offers potential savings over retail stores. The new vending machine is an update to the traditional farm stand that is beneficial to both farmers and local-loving consumers. They are the result of a collaboration between the Peter-und-Paul-Hof farm and the vending manufacturer Stuewer.
In the USA (San Diego) YoNaturals supplies vending machines filled with organic produce, from fresh fruit to products by well-known brands like Tazo (tea), Clif Bar (energy bars), Vitamin (beverages) and Horizon Organic (dairy). Operators and location managers can choose from more than 150 natural and organic foods and beverages, order through an online ordering system, and have the products delivered in less than three days. YoNaturals is actively seeking locations such as schools, shopping centres, offices, hospitals and fitness centres for placement of YoZone machines, seeking to cater to consumers on the go who are interested in healthier food options.
In Spain (Barcelona) Lof (short for 'Lo Fresco') emphases excellent nutritional value. Their machines sell nuts, prepared fruit, ready meals and Spanish speciality, gazpacho soup, and the machines are supplied, installed and maintained for free.
